The ingredients needed to make Chinese-style crispy beef:
  1. Take 250 g beef
  2. Make ready 1 tsp baking soda
  3. Make ready 3 tbsp soya sauce
  4. Make ready 1 garlic clove

  6. Take 4 tbsp corn starch
  7. Take Sauce
  8. Get 1 onion
  9. Prepare 3 tbsp white wine vinegar

  12. Take 1 tbsp soya sauce
  13. Get 3 tbsp water

Start this crispy shredded beef dish by mixing together the cornflour, eggs and salt, and toss the beef in this until all of it has been well coated. Then remove the beef and place on paper towels, and allow to drain all the oil. Lightly toast the peanuts in a dry frying pan, then crush in a pestle and mortar and put aside. Peel and finely chop the garlic and ginger.

Steps to make Chinese-style crispy beef:
  1. Cut the beef into really thin strips, coat in baking soda and leave for 30 minutes.
  2. Rinse the beef well in a colander to get rid of the baking soda and put in a bowl. Add soya sauce, garlic and ginger and let marinate for at least 20 minutes (over night in the fridge is the best!).
  3. Mix all the ingredients for the sauce and set aside while cooking the beef.
  4. Coat the meat in 3 tbsp of corn starch and leave for 10 minutes. Add the last 1 tbsp and then start frying the meat!
  5. Make sure the oil is hot when you put the meat in, and cook it in batches. Because the meat is so thinly cut, it only takes 1-2 minutes to cook it. Scoop up from the pan and let dry on some kitchen towels.
  6. When the beef is done, pour most of the oil out of the pan, turn the heat down and cook the onions for a couple of minutes. Pour the sauce over the onions and let simmer for a minute.
  7. Add the beef to the sauce and plate up!

Add the mince, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon, followed by half the garlic and ginger and the honey. The first time you coat the beef with ½ cup of corn starch you will notice that the moisture in the beef will just sop up that starch.
